Musée Océanographique
Have you ever been to Monaco? It’s pretty amazing, and I think my favorite part is the aquariums. For Django’s 5th birthday (and since we won 2 tickets at the famous kermesse party at his school), we decided to go as a family. We even brought Pierre and Nancy!
It’s built into the cliffs, so the sea is right there. An incredible view.
Monaco has no lack of stairs, elevators and escalators.
Pure wonder.
In this tank were a couple of sharks. And yes, I put that shirt on him on purpose that morning.
Can you see the huge turtle and sand ray?
Just a fraction of what is actually in all the seas and oceans. Mind blown.
My girl.
My man.
20 Then God said, “Let the water be filled with many living things, and let there be birds to fly in the air over the earth.” 21 So God created the large sea animals. He created all the many living things in the sea and every kind of bird that flies in the air. And God saw that this was good. -Genesis 1:20-21
His creation is breath-taking.
Aquariums are so fun - we can experience the beauty of the depths of the oceans and seas so easily. I just always pray the tanks don’t burst. Haha!
Watching the kids in awe of what they saw was probably my favorite part of the day.
Sitting on the ocean floor.
Fascinated.
The colors are just spectacular.
Jellyfish always remind me of a ballet, graceful and impressive.
This guy had funny lips.
I always wondered why the lion fish wasn’t called a tiger fish with all those stripes.
Hi Mamie and Papi!
WHOOOOO are you?
This is a new room that displays video on the walls, ceiling and floor. You feel like you’re either in the middle of the ocean, on icebergs with polar bears or other spectacular places related to the ocean.
The first submarine. You wouldn’t have been able to pay me enough to go down in that thing!
Lunch break in a restaurant on the ceiling of the Aquarium.
Aye matey!
We paid to reserve the touch pool for our family. It’s such a unique experience, especially for the kids.
Photo by Pierre - thanks Pierre.
Holding a sea urchin.
Django handing back the sea urchin skeleton.
Star fish.
They might not remember the aquariums, but they will definitely remember this.
It was hard for Django to keep his hands out of the water.
I love that little curious and adventurous hand.
Baby shark doot doot doot doot doo (enter musical emoji, then laughing emoji).
They both got to pet the baby shark. After petting it, Django said, “Me love it!”
That just about sums up the day… ME LOVE IT!!!
Thanks for coming with us through the aquariums! A little side note - I would like to thank God for guiding us to go the day we did. If we would have gone the day after, there was a fire in one of the tunnels between Nice and Monaco. I don’t think anyone was hurt, but the traffic was completely stopped for 2 1/2 hours. We recognize that the Lord protected us from that. Amen!
