3 Questions for January
Emily P. Freeman is a delightful human being that I don’t know personally, but who creates life-giving content that really encourages and challenges me. If you’ve read the blog for a while, you know that I like to use her monthly reflection questions from time to time. Think about what you would say about your life and how you would answer these questions as you read my responses.
3 Questions for January :
1. Name a new rhythm you’re practicing in January.
2. What’s something that took longer than expected in January.
3. What’s one arrow you’re following into February.
Daphné and I had a fun day at the arcade when her teacher was on strike. Who doesn’t love Whack-a-mole?!!!
1. A New January Rhythm.
I’m making small steps to take better care of myself mentally and physically, so I’ve come up with “Take-Care-of-Lindsey-Tuesdays.” Tuesday is the best day for this, since Mondays are full of speech therapy (Django) and synchronized swimming (Daphné). And if I don’t do it early in the week, I get involved in other projects.
So, how does it work? On Monday night, I usually reflect on what would be the best way for me to take care of myself the next day. A few things that I do : read for fun, gym classes, walk along the sea, write letters, go to a museum, watch some Heartland episodes (I just started season one), etc… I also use Tuesday mornings to schedule any appointments, like the dermatologist, psychologist, dentist, OBGYN, doctor, etc… I’m loving “Take-Care-of-Lindsey-Tuesdays” as a new rhythm for my weeks.
2. What took longer than expected.
The end of the month. It took for-eeeeeverrrr to get there. We were all sick off and on the whole month of January, and it just felt never-ending.
My friend in Cyprus sent me this on February 1st, and I laughed out loud so hard!!! It totally reflects my sentiments.
Thankfully, we had lots of fun stuff woven throughout the barfs (above Django recovers from a whole night of the stomach flu), coughs and fevers. Daphné turned 8 years-old, which was the highlight of January!
3. One arrow I’m following into February.
Some of you know I wanted to start a podcast. I’ve already written the first 2 transcripts, and Pierre so wonderfully edited my French (thank you Pierre!). I had a conversation with a friend in January, that was one of those encouragements that I needed to at least keep exploring the idea of doing this podcast.
I had almost abandoned the idea after being extremely discouraged by a few comments made to me about it. I still don’t feel the green light, which is why I’m still waiting and praying. Every time I want to just drop the idea all together, God brings some sort of encouragement for me to continue researching and persevering. I look forward to seeing where this arrow leads. (Above Daphné and I show off some jewelry we got in the mail from my mama, Grandma Kathy. Thanks so much Mama!!!)
Voilà, those are my answers. I hope you could reflect on your January as well. Until the next post, may “The Lord bless you and keep you; the LORD make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.” -Numbers 6:24-26
