Books Lindsey read in 2022
Hi everyone, I love looking back to see what I read over the year. I would say that I am a less-than-average to average reader. I read 12 books, but they were definitely loaded more in the beginning of the year.
Here they are in order that I read them :
1) The Magician’s Nephew by C.S. Lewis // The Narnia series is a faithful friend to me.
2) The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett // I had seen a few different versions of the movie, but the book is absolutely delightful. Such a classic.
3) L’Ennéagramme by René de Lassus // This was a challenge as it was in French and also textbook style writing. It took me a couple months, but I finally finished it. Thank you Pierre and Nancy for such a thoughtful birthday present.
4) Risen Motherhood by Emily Jensen and Laura Wifler // I really enjoy their podcast, which is where I learned of the book. It is a great reminder of God’s truth for mamas.
5) It Starts with You by Nicole Schwarz // BEST PARENTING BOOK I’VE EVER READ!!! If you’re a mom or dad wanting to become the best possible parent you can be, I HIGHLY recommend this one. She writes with so much compassion and wisdom. It’s refreshing and encouraging.
6) Women on Waves by Jim Kempton // My Dad bought this for me for my birthday this year, and I must admit that it was also a challenge. Over 400 pages of documentary style writing kept me persevering. It was such a fascinating read to learn about the history of women in the surf culture from the very beginning.
7) Je Pense Trop by Christel Petitcollin // My therapist recommended this to me. It was another challenging read in French with lots of technical terms, but I made it through. It helped me understand how I think and how God has wired my brain.
8) The Highly Sensitive Person by Dr. Elaine Aron //Another one recommended by my therapist. I am definitely a highly sensitive person (HSP), and this book helped me see that the areas I think are weaknesses can also be incredible strengths when properly utilized with a healthy perspective.
9) The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis // Continuing in the world of Narnia.
10) Les Vermeilles by Camille Jourdy // I checked this out at the library. It is a “comic book” for junior high or high school. I thought it would be a fun challenge, and it proved to be just that.
11) At Home in Mitford by Jan Karon // This Christian fiction series had been at church for a while. I finally read the first book in the series (this one), but I don’t think I’ll be continuing. I need a faster pace than a sleepy, small town vibe. It took perseverance to finish, but it was a delightful story nonetheless.
12) The Horse and His Boy by C.S.Lewis // My favorite book of the 7 Narnia books. Such great story telling.
My goal was to read more fiction this year than non-fiction. Well, it was half and half. I probably would have read more if I had a few less challenges, but I’m proud of myself for persevering. I hope this post encourages you as a reader, no matter what level… 3 books a year to 40+ books a year. Let’s just all keep reading =).

I will always be a tourist in my city. It’s so stinking gorgeous. Thank you Lord for this place!
